Managing Director of Expansion & Integration

Sara Wasserteil

Sara joined Cara in 2019 to lead our national expansion efforts. In this role, she brings Cara’s methodology to new markets, by working with non-profits and employers to strengthen inclusive employment pathways around the country. Prior to Cara, Sara spent 12 years weaving her way through the social sector – first, managing and implementing development programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, and then working as a social impact strategy and measurement consultant for organizations like the Canadian Federal Government, City of Chicago, Google.org, TD Bank, and YouTube. Sara sits on the Executive Board of Spark and is actively involved at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, where she received her MPP. Sara’s first gig: “Selling cinnamon rolls and bagels at my parents’ bakery in Portland.”
