LaTanya Simpson
Administrative Assistant
Tell us about where you worked or what you studied before coming to Cara.
Before coming to Cara, I worked for AltaStaff at Maximus on the Child Support Project in a call center. I had been working at call centers for over 20 years and wanted to transition from the “back of the house” to the “front of the house” customer service!
Why are you excited to join the Cara family?
After going through Transformations as a student and understanding Cara’s mission, which so aligned with my own, I couldn’t think of a better place to work. Cara’s mission is about helping people, and all I ever wanted to do in my personal and professional life was to help others!
Tell us about when you went in the Motivations circle for the first time. What was the question and how did you answer?
I think it was “Tell us about a person you admire. What has this person taught you?” I talked about my mother and Ms. Rochelle, the previous Program Director of SisterHouse. Both ladies taught me how to be a lady and believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. My mother has passed away, but Ms. Rochelle is a part of my life even though it has been five years since I lived in SisterHouse. She has the opportunity to see me continue to grow in my career and personal life.
What is the best experience you have ever had?
The best experience I had was my interview with Cara! I was so excited because working for Cara was a dream of mine. I was extremely passionate, and it showed! Even if Cara had not hired me, it still would have been worth it. But they did hire me! YAY!
What is your favorite food or restaurant and why?
My favorite food is Garrett’s Popcorn! It has to be ordered like this: “More caramel than cheese!” I love the sweet and salty mix of the caramel and cheese popcorn.
