Meet Frank
He’s transforming his life, thanks to your support.
“My dream job is to be a janitor. I want to focus on customer service in a hospital or through the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). I like interacting with lots of people coming and going. When they walk, I’ll make sure they have a clean path.
“I came to Cleanslate, and my first week was okay. Then, I came back the next week and kept getting lost on the routes and going down the wrong streets. Once you are on the street, you have to pay attention to signs instead of just walking. I figured that out, and then I was never slow at cleaning up.
“When we are on Cleanslate routes, I try to finish before the time is up, so I can help my team. If someone is having a hard time with their route, I try to go back and help them out.
“A lot of times you are on one side of the street and your team member is on the other side. Your side may not be as dirty as their side or your side might be dirtier. But if one of us gets done ahead of the other, usually we will cross the street and help each other out so that we can get to the finish line together.
“We empty garbage, take graffiti off, and do landscaping and snow removal. So far, I’ve been working on the routes cleaning up curbs, sidewalks, and fences.
“I am a pretty motivated person who tries to help others and be a good team member. I try to help the community and be especially good at cleaning. I take a lot of pride in my work because people are paying for it to get done, and it is helping my community. I also get to talk to people in the community.
“I’m amplifying my voice to do my best and greatest job.”
