“I had lost my house and my career. I have two kids, and I want to go home knowing I have a stable, decent job.

“While I was going to the store last summer, I saw a Cleanslate intern on his route. I asked him how I could apply, and he gave me a number to call.

 “Cleanslate contacted me, and I told them about myself. Soon after, they had me come into the Hub, and that’s how I got started.

“I already knew how to clean, but Cleanslate has taught me about responsibilities. Today, I describe myself as a fun, passionate leader.

“I’m amplifying my voice to clean Chicago neighborhoods.

“Before I started working here, I used to throw trash on the ground. Now, if I see trash in my neighborhood even when I’m not working, I put some gloves on and start cleaning up.

“I am working on creating a stable life. 

“I will get up every morning and go to work. I’ll be there on time… Always.”
