Nicole Realizes Her Potential

Before Cara, I felt stuck and unsure of my next steps. I was a bus aide for Chicago Public Schools, and I wanted more than just being a bus aide. I was working hard to improve my life, but lacked directions, confidence, and a clear career path.”

“My turning point came when I realized that doing the same thing was not producing different results. I wanted more stability, growth, and opportunities. And I knew I needed    support and a new approach to reach my goals.

“I learned about Cara through a community resource, and I was drawn to the mission of helping people transform their lives through employment and personal development. I wanted to invest in myself and create a better future, so I decided to give it a try.

“Coming to Cara, I immediately felt welcome and respected. The staff genuinely cared about my success, and I could tell that this place was where people believed in personal growth and second chances.

“I knew I needed to transform my mindset and confidence. I had to stop doubting myself and start believing that I was capable of achieving more.

“The greatest lesson I learned at Cara is that success starts with believing in yourself. When you change your mindset, you begin to change your actions and ultimately, your future.

“This year, I was hired at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab as a Nurse Rehabilitation Aid. Ringing the bell was an emotional and proud moment. I thought about all the hard work, challenges, and growth that led me there. It felt like proof that I was moving forward and that my effort was paying off.

“Through Cara, I also learned about a scholarship program, about how to get a scholarship and get your associates degree.

“I got the scholarship around the same time I was hired by Shirley Ryan. I start my official classes in August. Recently, I also finished the classroom portion of my CNA training at Shirley Rian. Now, I’m moving forward with clinicals.

“I’m excited about building a stable career, continuing to grow professionally, and creating new opportunities for myself. Cara is helping me get there by providing guidance, skills, support, and confidence.

“Without Cara, I would still be directionless and struggling to see my full potential. Cara helped me recognize my strength, believe in myself, and take a meaningful step towards a brighter future.
