Why I Champion Cara: Claire Henner

Meet Claire Henner, Cara Volunteer and Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist at Pariveda Solutions. We spoke with Claire to find out why she chooses to champion Cara and our motivated job seekers this #GivingTuesday.

How did you originally become connected to Cara Collective?

“I was referred to Cara from one of my co-workers, who used to serve on the Cara Associate Board. She organized a volunteer service day with Cara and our office, and I had a great experience.”

What about Cara motivates you to champion us in the various ways that you do?

“I’ve been helping participants with mock interviews. My day job as a recruiter allows me to use my real-world skills to make an impact while coaching the participants during mock interviews. I appreciate being able to translate my skills to give the participants a peek into what employers are looking for. I try to reassure them, make them more confident, and explain that it’s more of a conversation, so that way they feel really prepared when the time comes. It’s great working with people who are so dedicated, smart, and really excited to learn.”

What is your favorite Cara memory?

“Every time I work with a participant, and they go from being really nervous, and not knowing what to expect. After spending some time together, and finding out what trips them up and where they could be more confident, I can sense a transformation. I can sense that they now have ownership in the interview process, and are ready to continue forward. That’s where I find the most joy.”

Who or what inspired you give 100% this year?

“All the people who have given me their time, advice, and support in the past have inspired me to give 100% this year. Being able to pay it forward is very rewarding and I hope inspires others to do the same.”
